Downtown Update

Second Street Road Construction Begins Next Week

Second Street is slated for more construction work starting April 19th.  The first phase of the project will include the parking lane and lower traffic lane from 4th Avenue East to 12th Avenue East.  Once that is completed, work will begin on the other side, closing the upper traffic lanes.  The second phase of the project moves from 12th Avenue East to 21st Avenue East

Second Street will remain open during this reconditioning project; however drivers should use caution and watch for posted signs and work crews.

Passenger Rail Terminal Study Proves Positive for Downtown

A study presented to the St. Louis County Board this week shows the historic Depot is well suited for reuse as a passenger rail terminal in the future. It also highlights significant opportunity for development in the surrounding area and the ability to connect with the DTA’s proposed multimodal facility.  The county requested the study last year to examine the site’s potential due to the planned return of passenger rail service between Duluth and the Twin Cities

The report and related documents can be found at… www.stlouiscountydepot.org.
